Updated Health and Safety Protocols

Are you visiting us soon?

Please make sure you complete this self-assessment tool 1 day before you visit us to determine if it is safe for you to do so!

PraiseTEAM is ready to re-open classes in person.

We will apply precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all the members of our PraiseTEAM family. Everyone coming back for in-person classes: Staff and students should know how to keep themselves safe while at DBYC.

All scheduled appointments, visits, and classes with us will only be accepted if the visitor completes and passes the BC Covid Self Assessment tool 1 day before their scheduled time. We will send email reminders 1 day before your scheduled appointment and will expect a confirmation of completion shown upon your visit.

All students, guests, and staff are expected to follow our health and safety protocols, which we will be strictly enforcing at our venue.

Here are our core actions, measures, and protocols to minimize any risk of transmission.

Mandatory Face Coverings

Maintaining Physical Distancing

  • Students and Staff must maintain a distance of 2 metres (6.5 feet) between individuals, wherever possible.

  • Parents and Guardians should wait in the car or outside of the building.

  • Visitors will be limited.

  • There will be social distancing markers on the floor.

  • The overall number of occupants at the dance space at one time will be monitored. The current allowable maximum number is 50.

  • Any meetings, transactions or communications (e.g. class inquiries, payments, etc.) are best done online, or by phone.

  • Tasks may be moved to different areas of DBYC or off-site.

  • Entrance and Exits will be separate.

Cleaning and Hygiene

  • Wash hands often; may be before and after classes/rehearsals, including when handling common tools and equipment.

  • Wash for 20 seconds at least with soap and water.

  • Bring hand sanitizers/alcohol as needed.

  • Limit contact - no shaking hands or touching objects unless necessary.

  • Students and Staff should wipe own stuff and own space.

  • Students to bring only: water bottle, wipes/towel, sanitizer/alcohol.

  • They may be organized in one backpack. Leave other stuff at home or in the car.

  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available at entry and exit points and around the workplace.

Cleaning Surfaces

  • Students and staff should clean personal property that are brought in, such as sunglasses, mobile phone and iPads with disinfectant wipes.

Admin to ensure the following:

  • Any areas frequented are cleaned at least daily with detergent or disinfectant.

  • Wear gloves when cleaning and/or wash hands thoroughly with soap or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

  • Clean frequently touched areas and surfaces several times a day with a detergent or disinfectant solution or wipe. This includes equipment, handrails, tables, counter tops, door knobs, sinks and keyboards.

  • Implement a cleaning protocol for all common areas and surfaces, including washrooms, equipment, tools, common tables, desks, light switches, and door handles.

  • Floors are cleaned and sanitized after every use.

  • Remove any unnecessary tools, equipment, accessories that may elevate the risk of transmission.

Addressing Illness

  • Anybody sick should stay home or be instructed to isolate/quarantine with supervision by a medical or public health professional.

  • The provincial health officer and the BC CDC have issued the following guidance around self-isolation:

    • Anyone who has had symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days must self-isolate at home; symptoms include fever, chills, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and new muscle aches or headache.

    • Anyone under the direction of the provincial health officer to self-isolate must follow those instructions.

    • Anyone who has arrived from outside of Canada, or who is a contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case, to self-isolate for 14 days and monitor for symptoms.

    • Anyone who attended a gathering of more than the allowable number should monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms for the next two weeks.

Communication Plans and Training

Admin shall take these necessary steps:

  • Communicate these policies clearly as required.

  • Post up posters, signage, including occupancy limits and effective handwashing practices

  • Signage should also be posted at the main entrance indicating who is restricted from entering the premises (including visitors and members with symptoms).

  • Ensure supervisors have been trained on monitoring Staff and dancers to ensure policies and procedures are being followed.

Monitoring and Updating Plans

  • Things may change as we operate. If we identify a new area of concern, or if it seems like something isn’t working, we shall take steps to update our policies and procedures.

  • Staff and PT families may raise safety concerns. We are all to resolve any identified safety issues.

  • Admin shall continue to assess the dance spaces in DBYC before, during and after operations to ensure risks are identified and managed.
