Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.
It permits a greater range of movement that may not adhere to the strict body lines set forth by schools of ballet technique.

This is a class is for those who are interested to learn more of the foundations of Contemporary Dance and to work on their emotional interpretations. All skill levels are welcome, but the class content is designed for those with some degree of technical experience.

For dancers looking to develop their own movement style in improv/freestyle and choreography, through concepts, movement exploration, and creation.

Program Breakdown

Part 1: Exploration and Research

In this phase, dancers will be introduced to contemporary movement concepts.

Part 2: Creation

In this phase, dancers will use the concepts and training delivered in part 1 to create an engaging piece.

Part 3: Production

In this phase, the cohort of dancers will film the piece create in part 2.
